I seem to fall in love with every Kate that enters my life, or at least strive to know them more. Biased? Absolutely, but such a great connection that instantaneously occurs. One of my favorite Kate's is a little bit younger then me. By that I mean she is seven and probably the sassiest seven-year old I have ever met. She does and gets what she wants which from a counselor standpoint sucks, but from my standpoint is absolutely hilarious.
Little, little Kate asked one day(Christmas in June to be exact) if we could read her the Christmas story because she had never heard it before. A group of nine or ten Tweedles and a few counselors headed down to the lake with our bibles and blankets to sit and read the story. The younger girls took turns picking out words they could from the passage and little, little Kate just sat and listened. At the end she ran off(as all children seem to do) and that was that. End of the story, end of her attention span, end of her care. After all the girls left, I realized my bible had mysteriously disappeared as well. After about a week, when all the girls were leaving camp, my bible showed up on my bed. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when summer ended and I flipped to the back of my bible one day, I found "owner: kate" written. I don't know if she read it, or just had it for comfort, but when she gets old enough that bible is hers, no questions asked. I underestimated the power of Christ working in such young girls hearts and through little, little Kate, He showed me how comforting and almighty He truly is. So little, little Kate, you will probably not ever see this, but if you do, know that I love you forever and so does your savior.
Nahum 1:3
"The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet."
