March 5, 2011- Hamilton Ibbeken

Oh my sweet, sweet Darla, where to begin raving about you? I was lucky enough to have Hamilton as my camper this summer in the cabin that really hits the spot, Moonmist. I was stoked out of my mind to be a Moonmist counselor because honestly, middle school rocks. Not to mention, after six weeks of hearing about nothing but how cool the second session cousins were from Lindsay Lansky, I could hardly contain my excitement to be there. Lin-Lan was not exaggerating at all, and these girls completely blew my expectations out of the water. Sadly, this is not a Moonmist entry so i'll get back to Hamilton...

Darla and I instantly clicked the second she informed me that she wore headgear. Most girls her age would hide this kind of information from the world, but not Darla. Somehow I convinced her to wear it around so that every time I saw her a smile would radiate across my face. Little did she know, my smile was not entirely due to her headgear. Yes, it was hilarious and all I could picture was Darla from Finding Nemo when she had it one, but really I just smiled because Darla was near me. I cannot describe to you how beautiful this girl's heart is. She cannot stand to see anyone in pain or discomfort and will do everything in her power to help people out. She is selflessly encouraging and always sticks up for the people she loves. Darla, you are incredible. Not a day passes that I don't think of and pray for you and your gracious, loving and kind spirit. I am so thankful that the Lord placed you in my life and unbelievably grateful for the lessons He has taught me through you. Never forget what a beautiful girl you are and how much your father in heaven adores you. I love you forever.

Psalm 46:1
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."

P.S. I absolutely look like I am your age in this picture and it's super embarrassing to tell people that I am in fact six years older then you.
